Dear Ms. Broome,
My name is Tanya Pratap and I am a parent to a 12 year old girl, writing to you from Mumbai.
My daughter and her friends are a group of around 30, 6th grade children, many of whom have read and thoroughly enjoyed your book, 'Flute In The Forest'.
The young children have got together to host a 'Readathon'. Quite simply, in a Readathon - the children read for a specified period of time (8 weeks in our case) and they find sponsors who sponsor their reading efforts. All the monies raised by the children's reading efforts will go towards sponsoring the education of grade 6 children living and studying in Dharavi. We have found a wonderful school in Dharavi, that we have partnered with and our kids have already spent a delightful day with the kids that they are hoping to sponsor.
I am writing, to request for a few words from you that we can share with the children to inspire them to keep reading and keep discovering the pleasures of good books. I cannot put into words, how happy the children will be with even a few lines of support and encouragment from you, an author that have know and loved through your book.
